UK and Canada renew partnership on AI security
The United Kingdom and Canada have renewed their partnership on artificial intelligence security. The agreement expands cooperation between the UK AI Security Institute and the Canadian AI Safety Institute as more capable frontier models are developed.
The two countries plan to exchange information on emerging risks and capabilities, share evaluation methods and explore staff exchanges and coordinated tests. They will also work on compatible technical standards so organisations can apply recognised security practices across both markets.
The partnership builds on an arrangement first announced in 2024 and a wider growth and innovation agreement signed in 2025. No new funding figure or binding timetable was announced. The practical impact will depend on the standards, assessments and information-sharing mechanisms produced by the two institutes.
