UK gross domestic product grew by 0.1% in August, following rises of 0.4% in both June and July, according to the Office for National Statistics. Across the three months to August, output increased by 0.7% compared with the previous three-month period.

Monthly growth was driven by a 0.8% increase in production. Services output was unchanged, while construction fell by 0.2%. Over the three-month period, services grew by 0.9%, but production declined by 0.2% and construction by 1.0%.

The ONS revised several earlier estimates as new data became available. It says the figures are early estimates and may change in future releases, so the August result should be read alongside subsequent revisions.
