North London tower remains scaffolded six years before cladding work starts
Residents of Archway Heights, a nine-storey block in north London, say scaffolding around their homes has remained in place for more than six years while cladding work has yet to begin. They report blocked daylight, windows they cannot open and security problems after people climbed the structure.
The Building Safety Regulator says the original application was invalid and a later submission needed further information. The landlord, Places for People, says work cannot start until approval is granted. Residents are asking for the scaffolding to be secured, alarms repaired and clearer updates. The case illustrates how regulatory delays can affect daily life for people in flats awaiting post-Grenfell safety work.
